॥ औंओं श्री श्यामलादेव्यै नमः ॥
महाकवि-श्री-कालिदासप्रणीतम्

ध्यानम्
माणिक्यवीणाम् उपलालयन्तीं मदालसां मञ्जुलवाग्विलासाम् ।
महेन्द्रनील द्युतिकोमलाङ्गीगीं मातङ्गकन्यां सततं स्मरामि ॥१

Dhyanam (Meditation ).
I constantly contemplate the daughter of
Matanga having a beautiful body shining like
sapphire, languid with intoxication, singing
melodiously and playing gracefully on the
Veenagset with rubies.
चतुर्भुजे चन्द्रकलावतंसे कुचोन्नते कुडुङ्कुमरागशोणे ।
पुण्ड्रेक्षुपाशाङ्कुशपुष्पबाणहस्ते नमस्ते जगदेकमातः ॥ २
॥
Oh! mother of the whole universe ! my
salutations unto Thee who is endowed with four
hands and lofty breasts, who holds the red-
sugarcane, rope, spear and flower-arrows in her
hands, who has the digit of the moon for her
crest-jewel and whose body is red with saffron.
