THE RAMAYANA
इत्येवमुक्त्वा वचनं परिष्वज्य च वीर्यवान् ।
जगामाकाशमाविश्य सुपर्णः पवनो यथा ॥
Having said these words and embraced
them, the heroic Suparna went away
soaring in the sky like the wind.
विरुजौ राघवौ दृष्ट्वा ततो वानरयूथपाः ।
दध्मुः शङ्खान् संग्रहृष्टाः क्ष्वेलन्त्यपि यथापुरम् ॥
Seeing both the Raghavas free from
trouble, then the commanders of the monkeys,
highly delighted, blew their conches, and
shouted as before.
तेषां सुतुमुलं शब्दं तदा शुश्राव रावणः ।
सचिवानां तवस्तेषां मध्ये वचनमब्रवीत् ॥
Then Ravana heard their highly
tumultuous noise. And he uttered these
words in the midst of his ministers:
अयं च सुमहानादः शङ्कां जनयतीव मे ॥
"This intensely loud noise produces, as
it were, a fear in me.
तदस्त्रबन्धमासाद्य यदि मुक्तौ रिपू मम ।
संशयस्थमिदं सर्वम् अनुपश्याम्यहं बलम् ॥
