230. MSS. A, C & F read: Parijātaharane. MSS. B, & G read: Pārijātāpaha-
rane. In MSS. D & E the portion is missing. This is a reference to the
Parijataharaṇacampū of Seşakṛṣṇa, who was Teacher of Bhattoji. Seṣakṛṣṇa
wrote also a commentary on the Prakriyakaumudi of Ramacandra. The com-
mentary is known as Prakriyāprakāsa Bhattoji in his Sabdakaustubha on 1.1.8
(p. 114; C.S.S.) refers to it thus: tad etat sakalam abhisandhāya prakriyāprakāśe
gurucaranair uktam etc.
230-a. In the Rāghavapāndaviya, the word mahelā has two meanings. One
is mahati ilä, and the other is vanitä.
230-b. I had access to the Kavikalpalatā of Deveśvara, published by Asiatic
Sociey of Bengal, Calcutta. This was not available in full. First part had
the auto-commentary.
In the second part, the colophon at the end of the
4th & 5th section in the third chapter reads the commentary as:
süryakavirajakṛtā bālabodhikā.
This Süryakavi is said to have written the Narasimhacampu. See Note
177 also. The auto-commentary explains paramahelā-vilāsī thus: paresām
mahelā=stri; tasyā vilāsī; and paramā yā helā =līlā, tayā vilāsī,
Upamitibhavaprapañcā of Siddharsi also uses mahela (p. 190).
231. See S.K. & T.B. on Unādisūtra 54. The T.B. quotes here:
paramahelarato'py aparadarikaḥ
and attributes the line to one Damayantikavya. Balamanoramā attributes the
same line to Sriharsa (?). I am unable to verify.
231-a. Except E, all MSS. read thus. Some verses attributed to Akbariya-
kālidāsa are noted by Haradatta Sharma, in the I.H.Q., Vol. X. (p. 484 ).
This is not found there. I did not have access to the last part of the
Kavikalpalată. I do not know whether this verse is there. The connection of
Kavikalpalata and Akbariyakälidāsa is also puzzling to me. I do not know
whether the author of the former was also known by that name or title.
