Rao Bahadur K. Vireşalingam Pantulu, while fixing
the age of the poet Srinitha) in his treatise on the Telugu
Poets, Part I), has discussed the date of this author Sar-
vajña Singama Nayudu and bas arrived at the conclusion
that he was a contemporary of Praudha Devaraya of Vi-
jayanagar (1422-1447). He says further that he was the
10th in descent from Bhétála Nayudu or Chevi Reddi, the
progenitor of the Venkatagiri line of Princes, and that
his work on Poetics (Singabhnpaliya) was also known as
Chamatkara-chandrika. According to him, Srinitha was
the court poet of Venu Reddi of Rajamundry, whose ins-
eription at Bhimavaram is dated 1434 A.C. The same
Srinatha is said to have attended the Court of Sarvajña
Singama Nayudu and to have prayed to Sarasvati that he
might also approve of the title Kavi-sarvabhauma confer-
red on him by other Rulers. Srinatha's brother-in-law,
Bammera-Fotariju, the well known author of Andhra-
Bhagavata, was the court poet of Sarvajña Singama
Nayudu, who is said to have attempted to destroy that
work on the poet's declining to dedicate it to him.
