-, Tarastottara-satanama-stot-
ram-One hundred and eight names in the form of a
hymn to Tārā.
 
It consists of one hundred and eight epithets strung together
in the form of a hymn to Ekajata Arya Tārā, or simply Tārā.
The hymn is alleged to have been imparted by Avalokita Bodhi,
sattva to Vajrapāni Bodhisattva, and is intended to be worn as
an amulet to avert evils proceeding from thieves, war, fire, lions,
water, elephants, tigers, noxious animals generally and other
causes to which Bhikṣus were exposed in their peregrinations.
 
It consists of 70 verses, mostly incorrect, written in Newari
character, and is included in the Nepalese-Buddhist MSS. in the
Oriental Library of A.S.B., No. B 33. There is another work
of the same name in
, No. B 65, in the Oriental Library
of A.S.B.
