inspite of the fact that the work is very short, the
narration is never felt as faltering or in an unnecessary
hurry. Thus the work endowed with so many merits,
is indeed a great contribution of Somanātha kavi to
the Sanskrt literary world in general and a large number
of devotees of Śrī Vyāsa Tīrtha, in particular.

The Present edition:

Long back, in the year 1926, Srī B. Venkoba Rao,
a historian and a good scholar in Sanskṛt had brought
out an edition of Vyāsayogicharitam. He had taken
great pains to collect many valuable historical points
connected with the life of Śrī Vyāsa Tīrtha and also
the Vijayanagara empire and presented them in a lengthy
introduction. Therefore, I have not recounted the
historical details here. The Dvaita Vedanta Foundation
of Studies and Research, Bangalore, with a view to
bring out a comparatively better edition of the work
entrusted me with the editing of this work. The Valuable
suggestions given by prof. K.T. Pandurangi, vice-
chairman of the Foundation and Śrī G. Guru
Venkatacharya of Poorņa Prajña Vidyāpīṭha helped me
a great deal in bringing out this edition.

Before concluding, I sincerly thank Śrī N. Narasinga
Rao, Chairman, D.V.S.R., for giving me an opportunity
to edit this work. The entire credit of bringing out
this edition should go to my professor Śrī K.T. Pandurangi
without whose valuable guidance this would have
remained an impossible task. I am indebted for his
help and encouragement.
