battle of argument takes place for eighteen days. With

his formidable arguments, Śrī Vyāsa Tīrtha trounces

them all among whom one Bhatta is prominent. The

king Narasimha who witnesses himself the great victory

of Sri Vyasa Tīrtha, makes munificent grants to the

mutt. At the request of the king Śrī Vyāsa Tīrtha

stays in Chandragiri for many more years.

After sometime, the king Narasimha, having crowned

his son Tammarāya passes away. The king Tammarāya

also, who rules the kingdom efficiently is blessed and

guided by Śrī Vyāsa Tīrtha.

The fifth chapter begins with the description of

Vidyanagari otherwise known as Vijayanagara. The king

Narasa of Vijayanagara is awaiting the arrival of Śrī

Vyāsa Tirtha who on the request of the ministers

of the king, is visiting the city. To receive him the

king, with all the royal honours, goes to the outskirts

of the city and as the effulgent form of Śrī Vyāsa

Tirtha approches him, he bows with all reverence.

He also recalls several mystic and Spiritual events

associated with Śrī Vyāsa Tīrtha, that he had heard.

Once, when Śrī Vyāsa Tīrtha was on a tour, in a

forest, some dacoits joined the mutt group with the

sole intention of robbery. But they were so mesmerised

with the divine personality of Sri Vyāsa Tīrtha that

they behaved like slaves and at his bidding they used

to bring to the mutt, twigs and leaves of trees for
