Poet Tulsidas needs no introduction. The greatness of
quality of his literary works places him much above other
Hindi Poets and very high amongst outstanding Poets of the
World.
Gosvami Tulsidas was both a Saint and a Poet. Born tow-
ards the close of fifteenth century, he won the hearts of multi-
tu des and has captivated the imagination of millions of people
by the beauty of his composition and the simplicity of his view-
point on Religion and Morality. His literary works contain
a rich effusion of thought and poetical art. His admirers are
held amazed and spell bound at the fathomless depth of his
devotion to Lord Shri Rama. The pofoundness of his learning
and exquisite beauty of his literary expression is marvellous.
His works, for these qualities, have in India and in the Hindu
World, acquired a scriptural sanctity.
Keeping this importance of Gosvami Tulsidas's works in
mind and to make them accessible to a greater world we are
publishing for the first time a Metrical English Translation
of all his Works in Six uniform Volumes. Our Translator
has already distinguished himself with his Metrical Transla-
tion of Shri Ramacharitmanas, the magnum opus of Tulsidas.
The Translations include an exhaustive Introduction to
each Volume, Metrical Translation of the Text, detailed Ex-
planatory Notes and comprehensive Glossary at the end.
All these qualities of our Edition would go a long way to
enable even non-Indians, .unfamiliar with our Tradition and
Culture to grasp the spirit of Gosvami Tulsidas and his Works.
