(6) A Nâgarî MS. of pandit Asvattha Narayana Josyar of
Mysore.

(7) A Telugu paper MS. belonging to pandit Rama Josyar
of Mysore.

The Bangalore and Karvethnaggar editions of the work
have been consulted throughout. Both of them are incorrect.

II. BHAVANOPANISHAD

This short Upanishad with Bhâskararâya's commentary has
been edited from a collation prepared from two MSS., one
obtained at Bangalore and the other at Mysore. The commen-
tator says that there are various readings extent of the Upani-
shad, as may be seen by comparing the Madras and Bombay
editions of the Upanishad with the present edition.

III. PANCASTAVI

This is a collection of hymns, five in number, which are
older than Lakshmidhara, who in his commentary on Saundarya-
lahari refers to three of these hymns-Laghustava, Charcāstava
and Sakalajananistava-and ascribes them to Kalidasa. In one
place (P. 216) he appears to suggest that the first and the
second may be ascribed to Sri Sankarācārya. I have two com-
mentaries with me on the first, Laghustava, in one of
which Laghu-Bhattāraka is said to have been the author of the
hymn. A Dharmacharya is also mentioned by another commen-
tator as the author of the same hymn. There is a reference in
Laghustava to Vatsarāja and in Charcāstava to a son of Udayana..
The two names occur in Ratnavali a dramatic work of Sri-
Harşa. The last, Sakalajananistotra is the most interesting of
the five hymns. These hymns have been edited with the aid of
the Madras and Bombay editions and of MS. in the Oriental
Library. A paper manuscript containing the last piece lent by
Mr. T. Paramasiva Iyer has been found of great help.
