ancient India, which was rightly believed to be essential
to happiness here and hereafter, and I have spared
no pains to describe, so far as space has permitted, the
e, so far as space has permitted, the
true character of an आचार्य dwelling in a peaceful आश्रम

with his family and his students. Liberty has also been

taken to quote simple sentences, embodying the high

ideals of a ब्रह्मचारी or a गृहस्थ and also of human life in

the main, from various ancient works which will, I

believe, diffuse the sacred aroma of antiquity over

whatever I have written in defence of the eternal prin-

ciples of purity and right-mindedness.
