ಓದುವವನ ಬಾಳು ಧನ್ಯ. ಇಂಥ ರಸ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದ ನಾಡು ಧನ್ಯ.
ಇದನ್ನು ಅರಿಯದ ಕೂಪ ಮಂಡೂಕಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ 'ಶೂನ್ಯ'ವನ್ನು
ತುಂಬಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ !
ಇದು ಸನಾತನಿಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಬರೆದ ಕಾವ್ಯವಲ್ಲ; ಹಿಂದೂಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ
ಮೀಸಲಾದ ಕೃತಿಯೂ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ಹೃದಯವುಳ್ಳವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಬೇಕಾದ ಕೃತಿ,
ವಿಶ್ವಕಾವ್ಯ. ಕಾಣುವ ಕಣ್ಣು, ತಿಳಿಯುವ ಬಗೆ ಒಂದು ಇದ್ದರೆ ಯಾವ
ಪಂಥದವರಿಗೂ ಇದು ಅವುತಣ, ಅದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ರಸಪರಿಣತಿಯನ್ನು ಅರಸುವ
ಜನಕ್ಕೆ ಪಥ ಯಾವುದಾದರೇನು ? ಕತೆ ಯಾವುದಾದರೇನು ? ಜೇನಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲ
ಹೂವೂ ಹೂವೇ. ಭ್ರಮರಕ್ಕೆ ಪಕ್ಷಪಾತವೆಂಬುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಮಾತು
ಬೈಬಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿರಬಹುದು, ವೇದಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬರಬಹುದು, ಸರ್ವಜ್ಞ ಬಸವಣ್ಣನವರ
ವಚನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬರಬಹುದು, ರಾಮಾಯಣ-ಪುರಾಣಗಳಲ್ಲಾದರೂ ಬರಬಹುದು.
ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದಿದೆ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಮುಖ್ಯವಲ್ಲ. ಏನು ಬಂದಿದೆ ಎನ್ನುವುದು
ಮುಖ್ಯ.
ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯವರಿಗೆ ಮಾರಾ ಬಹೆನರು ರಾಮಾಯಣವನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು
ಪತ್ರವೊಂದನ್ನು ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಬೇಕು :
"I had about 40 minutes with the Ramayan last
night. I had only got half way through Griffith's full
translation when I left jail. I want to read it faithfully
from cover to cover, so I am keeping it by me. It gives
me extraordinary happiness and peace when I read it. It
is something I cannot explain. And what joy it is to
read the descriptions-the forests, the hermits, the animals,
the birds, the peasants, the fields, the villages, the towns
though four or five thousand years have gone by, it is all
there in the heart still of this blessed land. Even, since
