south during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
 
I cannot conclude without acknowledging my
indebtedness to the valuable introductions of T.S. Kuppu-
swami Sastri to his editions of the Kamalinikalahaṁsa
and the S'ivalīlārṇava in the Vani Vilas Series. Those
introductions afford much valuable information regarding
