Nalabhyudaya, Valmikicarita, etc. Rajacudamani says in
the prastavanā of the Ānandarāghava :
प्रतिदिनप्रबन्धपरमेश्वरेण रघुनाथनायकमहीनायकेन संदृब्धाः पारि-
जातहरण-नलाभ्युदयप्रमुखetc.
Later on he says that these works of Raghunatha
were dramas. The Pārijātaharaṇa was, according to
Rajacūḍāmani Diksita, composed in one night. In the
Rukminipariņaya he says:

श्रीपारािजतहरणाभिधानो येनैकरात्रेण कृतः प्रबन्धः ।
अन्ये च वाल्मीकिचरित्रमुख्या विश्वप्रतीता विहिताः प्रबन्धाः ॥'
Balayajñavedesvara is the Commentator on the
Rukminīparinaya and it is his com-
mentary that is now printed along
with the text. The date of the
composition of the commentary which is called Mauktika-
mālikā is given by the author thus:
Balayajnavedes-
vara the Commenta-
tor.
हृते कलियुगे वर्षे वेदाग्निग्रहसागरैः ।
यज्ञवेदेश्वरेणैषा कृता मौक्तिकमालिका ।

This comes to 4934 of the Kali era or A.D. 1833. Of the
other works, if any, of Balayajña, we have no informa-
tion at present.
In the brief narrative set forth above, I have not
referred to a number of other writers who flourished
during the period between 1500-1700, which I should
have liked to. The limits of this introduction did not
