AYODHYAKANDA
सोऽहमिक्ष्वाकुभिस्सर्वैर्नैरेन्द्रैः परिपालितम् ।
श्रेयसा योक्तु कामोऽस्मि सुखाईमखिलं जगत् ॥
"I am desirous of bringing about the
welfare of this entire earth, entitled to
happiness, which has been well-protected
by all the Ikshvaku kings.
इदं शरीरं कृत्स्नस्य लोकस्य चरता हितम् ।
पाण्डरस्यातपत्रस्य छायायां जरितं मया ॥

This body has been worn out by me in
doing good to all the world, in the shadow
of the white umbrella (of sovereignty).
अनुजातो हि मां सवर्गुणैज्येष्ठो ममात्मजः ।
तं चन्द्रमिव पुष्येण युक्तं धर्मभृतां वरम् ।
यौवराज्ये नियोक्तास्मि प्रीतः पुरुषपुङ्गवम् ॥
My eldest son, indeed, takes after me
in all excellent qualities.
I desire with rejoicing to appoint to the
office of the Yuvaraja, him who is the
best upholder of dharma and the fore-
most of men, like the conjunction of the
moon with the constellation Pushya.
अनुरूपस्स वै नाथो लक्ष्मीवॉलक्ष्मणाग्रजः ।
त्रैलोक्यमपि नाथेन येन स्यान्नाथवत्तरम् ॥
