With folded hands and with his face

facing Raghava, Bharata honoured Rama

with genuine welcome.
 
YUDDHAKANDA
 

 
पादुके ते तु रामस्य गृहीत्वा भरतः स्वयम् ।

चरणाभ्यां नरेन्द्रस्य योजयामास धर्मवित् ॥
 

Taking both those sandals, Bharata,

knower of Dharma, himself put them on

the feet of Rama, foremost of men.
 

 
भरताश्रममासाद्यं ससैन्यो राघवस्तदा ।
 

प्रययौ रथमास्थाय रामो नगरमुत्तमम् ।

ऐक्ष्वाकाध्युषितं रम्यम् आससाद पितुर्गृहम् ॥
 

Then after reaching the hermitage of

Bharata accompanied by his army, Rama

took his seat in his chariot and went

to the foremost city (Ayodhya) ; and he

reached his father's lovely mansion, dwelt

in by the Ikshavakus.
 

 
ततः स प्रयतो वृद्धो वसिष्ठो ब्राह्मणैः सह ।

रामं रत्नमये पीठे सहसीतं न्यवेशयत् ।

अभ्यपिषिञ्चन्नरव्याघ्रं प्रसन्नेन सुगन्धिना ।

सलिलेन सहस्त्राक्षं वसवो वासवं यथा ॥
