अहं तामानयिष्यामि नष्टां वेदश्रुतीमिव ।

अनुमानाचुत्तु जानामि मैथिली सा न संशयः ॥
 

 
I will bring her back as the lost Scripture,
the Veda. THE RAMAYANA

ह्रियमाणा मया दृष्टा रक्षसा क्रूरकर्मणा ।

क्रोशन्ती रामरामेति लक्ष्मणेति च विश्स्वरम् ॥
 

She was seen by me when she was carried

away by the demon of cruel acts crying

hoarsely: "Ah, Rama, Rama and Ah,

Lakshmana."
 

 
उत्तरीयं तया व्त्यक्तं शुभान्याभरणानि च ।

आनयिष्याम्यहं तानि प्रत्यभिज्ञातुमर्हसि ॥
 

An upper garment was dropped by her

as well as auspicious ornaments. I shall

bring these things to you. It behoves you to

recognise them."
 

 
उत्तरीययं गृहीत्वा तु शुभान्याभरणानि च ।

इदं पश्येति रामाय दर्शयामास वानरः ॥
 

Holding the upper garment and the aus-

picious ornaments, the monkey exhibited

them to Rama, saying: 'See this.'
