उवाच भरतश्श्रीमान् वसिष्ठं मान्त्रिणां वरम् ॥

Having gone a long distance, his horses
thoroughly exhausted, the blessed
Bharata spoke to Vasishtha, the foremost
of counsellors :
साधु सैन्याः प्रतिष्ठन्तां विचिन्वन्तु च कानने ।
यथा तौ पुरुषव्याघ्रौ दृश्येते रामलक्ष्मणौ ॥
"Let able soldiers start and explore
the forest so that the tiger-like Rama and
Lakshmana could be seen."
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे त्रस्ताश्शब्देन महता ततः ।
अर्दिता यूथपा मत्ताः सयूथा दुद्रुवृर्दिशः ॥
In the meanwhile, being alarmed at the
great sound there, the mad leaders
of elephant-herds, accompanied by the
elephant-heards, ran pell-mell in all
directions, being frightened.
तांश्च विद्रवतो दृष्ट्वा तं च श्रुत्वा च निस्वनम् ।
उवाच रामस्सौमित्रिं लक्ष्मण दीप्ततेजसम् ॥
