KARŠANİYA-One of the four broad varieties of
enemy, the other varieties being Yatavya, Ucch-
edaniya, and Pidaniya. When conditions are
just the reverse of under which an enemy is
reckoned as Ucchedaniya, the enemy is to be
treated as either Pidaniya or karsaniya. The
present term implies that the enemy is fit to be
troubled by way of putting him to loss of wealth.

KĀNĪNA-The son born to a woman before her
marriage, is called a Kanina-putra of the man
who marries her. Manu Sam. IX. 172.
