ĀKRANDA-(1) One of the Kings forming the cir-
cle of allies and enemies of the Mandala theory.
 
(2) When the Aggressor (Vijīgiṣu) starts out on
a military expedition, one immediately adjacent
to him from behind, called Parṣṇigrāha, creates
trouble for him, while the Akranda, whose terri-
tory is separated by that of the Parṣṇigraha,
plays the role of an ally for the Aggressor (AS⁹
VI. 2),¹ and prevents the Parṣṇigrāha from his
aggressive designs.
 
AKRANDASARA-(1) One of the Kings forming
the circle of allies and enemies in the Mandala
theory.
 
(2) The territory of this King stands fifth to
that of the Aggressor, (Vijīgiṣu), from behind.
