Mahāmātra or Tirtha called Antapala. A court
of justice under a Dharmastha is also stationed
in this Antapaladurga as indicated by the ex-
pression Janapadasandhi in AS' III. 1.
ANTARAMATYAKOPA-Antagonism towards the
King on the part of any one of the closely as-
sociated Amatyas other than the Mantri, the
Purohita, the Yuvaraja and the Senapati. (AS'
IX. 3).³
 
ANTARDHI-A weak king who stands (geographi-
cally) in between the Vijigisu (aggressor) and
his Ari (enemy). He is called so, because when-
ever there is any offence from any strong power,
he conceals himself in either a fort or a forest.

ANTARVAMS'IKA-(1) Chief of the guards of the
harem.
 
(2) One of the 18 Mahāmātras or Tirthas. (AS

ĀNVİKŞIKĪ– (1) Medhatithi on Manusam. VII. 43
says that the term may mean either Tarkavidyā
(i.e., logic or the science of reasoning) or Atmavi-
dyā (i.e., metaphysics). Offering a third alterna-
tive he says that Anviksiki may be another name
for Atmavidya (metaphysics) and Manu mentions
