ATI-SANDHI-If a certain treaty (Sandhi) results
in a greater gain of wealth (Hiranya) land
(Bhūmi), etc. than anticipated in time of the
mutual agreement, the treaty is called an Ati-
sandhi. (AS' VII.9).
ATYAYA-A fine or penalty. It is one of the seven
Ayamukhas or sources of royal income (AS' II. 6).
Such a fine is often realised in the form of a
deduction of pay and other emoluments of state
employees. (See the expression Atyayasthāna
in AS' II.32).
