having stem with nodes like that of sugarcane
(kandekṣu, śṛnkhalikā) and also smelling like that
(ikṣugandhā, ikṣuraka ). It looks like sesamum plant
but thorny (tilakantaka) the spines being sharp
(kṣura) and arranged in a circle on nodes (kanta-
guccha). The entire plant is very rough (sukhara).
Seeds are red (kokilākṣa) and sticky (picchila) and
used as aphrodisiac (adhyanda). The (ash of) plant
is useful in splenomegaly (plihaśatra ) ( and also in
gall stone)
