Kutaja (Holarrhena antidysenterica Linn. Wall. )

is a small tree ( vrkşṛkṣaka ) growing wild ( kutaja )

and gregariously (cakraśākhiī) in hilly regions of

Kalinga and Vatsa ( kālinga, indravrksṛkṣa, vatsaka )

with pale bark (pandāṇḍuradruma). It bears fragrant

(mahāgandha ) jasmine-like flowers ( mallikāpuspa,

girimallikā ) in early rainy season (prāvrsenya ).
