Indravāruṇī ( Citrullus colocynthis Schrad. ) is
a large creeper or climber (indravallarī ) mostly
found in desert area (marusambhavā). It has yel-
low flowers (pītapuṣpī ) and fruits resembling cow's
eye-ball (gavākṣī ) and variegated ( citrā ) eaten by
cows and wild animals (gavādanī, mṛgairvāru ). It
is a potent hydrogogue purgative (indravāruṇi.
vāruṇi ) and anti-poisonous ( viṣaghnī).
