Agnimantha ( Premna mucronata Roxb. ) grows
on river sides (nădeyi) and is of gregarious nature
( ganikarikā ). It has inflorescence projecting like
banner ( ketu, vaijayantī ). Its sticks were used to
produce fire by rubbing together (agnimathana,
aranī). In sacrifices, It conquers many diseases ( jayā,
jayantī ) and stimulates digestive fire (agnimantha ).
