Nāmarūpajñāna is prescribed as a subject under.
postgraduate course of Dravyaguṇa by Central Coun-
cil of Indian Medicine. This book is presented as a
premier publication on the subject which has been
designed to serve as a guide for this. In fact, it covers
one of the three aspects of the subject, the other two
being pharmacognosy proper and discussion on
drugs. This would also be helpful to undergraduate
students who have to study this topic under the cur-
riculum of Dravyaguna. Besides, it would serve as
a guide to teachers, research workers and all those
involved in study of medicinal plants.

I am thankful to Dr. Ravi Vrat Sharma of Satya-
ing th
priya Prakashan for accepting this as their inaugural
publication. I hope, the prakashan would bring out
many more standadard books in future.
