of śāla and deep ( guhā), long ( dīrghāṅghrī ) and
fibrous ( aṃśumatī ) root having aroma of vidārī-
kanda ( vidārigandhā ). It is predominant in proper-
ties of soma and as such acts as rasāyana ( saumyā ),
strengthens the body (sthirā) and alleviates cardiac
pain ( śūlarogaharī ) and oedema ( śophaghnī ).
Specific characters
1. Leaves — similar to those of śāla.
2. Root—deep, long and fibrous with sweet aroma.
3. Actions—rasāyana and alleviates cardiac pain
