broad (pṛthupalāśikā, palāśī ) aromatic leaves (gan-
dhapalāśī ). Rhizome is bitter ( tiktakandaka ), nodu-
lar ( ṣaḍgranthā) and aromatic ( gandhamūlikā ) with
camphorous odour ( candragandhā ). Leaves and
rhizome resemble those of haridrā (haridrāpatrakan-
dakā ). It is a reputed drug for many ailments ( śaṭī )
and is also anti-obesity (palāśī ).
