Oarthan
Vidārī ( Pueraria tuberosa DC. ) is an exten-
sively spreading weak plant with trifoliate leaves like

those of palāśa (palāśikā) which are eaten with
relish by elephants and horses (gajavājipriyā). The
tuber is of big size similar to kūsmāṇḍa (bhūmi-
kūsmāṇḍa) which crackens the surface of the ground
( vidārī ). It is white (śuklakanda, ksiraśuklā ), sweet
(svādukanda), with aroma of sugarcane (iksugandha)
and liked by jackals (śrgālika) and wild cats
( bidalikā ). It is aphrodisiac in action ( vrsyakanda ).
