Vidanḍaṅga (Embelia ribes Burm. f.) is a shrub

growing in hilly region mostly of North-East

(kirītṭa), with delicate and flexible branches it looks

like a weak plant ( vella). Seeds are peculiarly white

spotted ( citratandṇḍula, śvetatandṇḍula ). It is unfailing

( amoghā ) remedy for worms ( krṛmighna, jantu-

nāśana, vidanḍaṅga, bhasmaka ) regarded as the best of

anthelmintic drugs ( kiritṭa ). It is used commonly in

Kerala ( kairala ). Vidanḍaṅga is also used in veterinary
medicine ( mr
medicine ( mṛgagāminī ).
