१४. शतपर्विका ( भा० ) – शतं बहूनि पर्वाण्यस्याः ।
१५. शूलघ्नी (सो०)-– शूलं हन्तीति ।
१६. षड्ग्रन्था (भा० ) – षडधिका वा ग्रन्थाः ग्रन्थयः पर्वाणि
कन्देऽस्याः ।
१७. स्मारणी (सो०) - अपस्मृतिं निराकृत्य स्मृतिप्रत्यानयनं विधी-
यतेऽनया ।
१८. स्वरालुः (श० ) – स्वरं वर्धयति ।
 
Vacā (Acorus calamus Linn. ) is a semi-aquatic
herb having reddish brown ( arunā), hairy (golomiṇā), hairy (golomī,
lomaśī, jatilā) and intense-smelling (ugragandhā)
rhizome which has many nodes (şadgranthā,ṣaḍgranthā, śata-
parvikā). It is a potent drug (ugrā, vijayā) used for
improving voice (vacaā, svarālu), reducing body
weight (karşaniṣaṅī), arousing consciousness (bodha-
nīyā, smāraṇī), destroying organisms (bhūtanaśaniī,
raksoghniṣoghnī) and relieving colic (sūlaghniī ). It is re-
garded generally as auspicious (mangalyā).

it is a reputed drug for epilepsy.
