Fruits are round (golaphala, piṇḍitaka ) hanging like
bell (ghaṇṭāla) and with streaks on outer surface
(dhārāphala) within which seeds are arranged in
mass (piṇḍītaka). Fruit is the useful part (phala)
which is applied in many disorders (rāṭha ) particu-
larly as emetic (vamana); during the process it
produces horripilation and malaise (madana) and
eliminates kapha (gāla, gālava, kaphavardhana ), thus
alleviating respiratory disorders (śvasana). It is also
anti-poisonous (viṣanāśana ). Fruit. enters into for-
mulations of enema (bastirodhana ) and is also used
as fish-poison (matsyāntakaphala)
