Mañjistṣṭhā (Rubia cordifolia Linn.) is a climber

spreading extensively (yojanavallī, vikasā, samangā,
ṅgā,
jingi). Its stem is reddish (aruṇā) and leaves arranged
in a circle (citraparni

(raktängi) in fresh state, coppery when half-dried

(tāmramulā) and black when dried completely (kālā,
