and drugs used by the same name differently in dif-
ferent regions. correlation of name and form is very
important as without this one can not identify the
plant even if seeing it (अनामविन् मोहमुपैति वैद्यो न वेत्ति
पश्यन्नपि भेषजानि-ध० ) ।

Hot Dhanvantarinighantu says-names, one or many.

The use of synonyms can be traced back to
Vedic Nighantu which mentions a number of syno-
