Tulasi (Ocimum sanctum Linn. ) is a common
herb grown
in villages (grāmyā) and found easily
everywhere (sulabhā). Leaves are regarded as sa-
cred (tulasī, pūtapatrī). They have sweet aroma
(svadugandhicchadā) and useful juice (surasā).
Entire plant is aromatic (surabhi) and repels evil
organisms (apetarākṣasī). Flowers are set densely.
