१. जीरकः (भा०) – जिनाति भुक्तं परिणमयति, 'ज्या वयोहानौ' ।
२. अजाजी (भा०) – अजं जठराग्निमजति प्रेरयतीति, 'अज गति-
क्षेपणयोः' ।
३. औत्तरापथम् (कै०) - उत्तरापथे भवम् ।
४. जरण: (भा०)–जरयति भुक्तमिति, 'जृजॄष् वयोहानौ' ।
५. दीपकः (रा०) – दीपयत्यग्निमिति ।
६. दीर्घकम् (ध०) – दीर्घाकारत्वात् ।
७. पीताभम् (ध०)–पीता आभाऽस्य ।

Jīraka (Cuminum cyminum Linn.) is cultivated

It has long ( dīrghaka) yellowish (pitābha ) fruits
which stimulate appetite ( ajājī, dīpaka ), are diges-
tive ( jīraka, jaraṇa ), improve relish and ares taste and is whole-
some for mind (medhya ).
