part, spines, apart from usual five parts so it is known
as 'ṣaḍaṅga' ( having six parts ). The plant has leaves
like those of bengal gram plant. (caṇadruma ).

1. Plant—growing wild, with aroma of sugar cane.

plant.
3. Fruits—resembling water chest-nut but armed

१. चक्रमर्दः (भा०) - चक्रं दद्रं मृद्नातीति; चक्रं त्वग्रोगसमूहं
मृद्नाति वा ।
२. एडगज: (भा०) -एडशब्देन गज्यते कथ्यते इति, 'गज मदे शब्दे
च' ।
३. कुष्ठहा (सो०)–कुष्ठं त्वग्विकारं हन्तीति ।
४. खर्जूघ्नः (रा०) – खर्जूं कण्डूं हन्तीति ।
५. चक्री (भा०) –चक्रे समूहे जायमानः, चक्राह्वयो वा ।
६. दद्रुघ्नः (भा०) – दद्रुं हन्तीति ।
७. दृढबीज: (रा०) –दृढानि बीजान्यस्य ।
८. पद्माट: (भा०) – पद्ममिवाटति गच्छतीति, सूर्योदये विकासि-
त्वात् ।
