Kamparaja

Kamparaja was an exquisitely beautiful personality. Possessed

of a long and luxurious hair moulded into a knot, he used to
decorate it with flowers. Round his waist he was wearing a belt
studded with diamonds. There was a red streak at the end of his
eyes, a core in his brow, and a mole on his chest. As per the
science of palmistry he possessed several characteristics of a
warrior and of an emperor. He possessed a radiating face and
strong physique; he was righteous and pious in conduct, highly
virtuous, sacrificing and devotional; observed all rituals and was an
adept in diplomacy. He was blessed with many sons. Like Rama,
he was born to punish the wicked and to protect the pious. He was
a master of music and in poetics and scholarship. He possessed
great skill in archery and in the art of warfare. In archery his
father was his Guru, and in fine arts others.

It was this Kamparaja that invaded Kerala and Andhra
regions, killed the Keralites and subdued the Andhras. (Vide
Sloka 30, S. 9).

pat, Tiruchinapalle, etc. that he gave up the titles of Mandale-
swara', 'Vadayar' possessed by his prior dependent kings and

which it is to be inferred that he had overlordship over several
