"Karnata region lies in the southern part of the renowned
Bharatha Khanda: The river Tungabhadra flows through the
middle of it. It purifies all sins. Treating it as the Ganges, Sri
Virupaksha Swamy, emerged on its shores. Near the temple of
that Swamy lie the capital Vijayanagar replete with womenfolk
as beautiful as Ratidevi the consort of the Lord of Love Manma-
dha. Bukkaraya was born as the son of Sangamaraja as the
modern Krishna of the Yadu dynasty and ruled over Vijayanagar.
He was a terror to all. On his mandate minister Madhavacharya
got the Vijayanagara Empire and was destroying all its enemies.

No. 44 of the series of ancient letters compiled in ‘Kavya_Mala —
it is stated thus":
अस्ति क्षीरार्णवोद्भूतमपां पुष्पमनुत्तमम् । अम्लानं यदनिर्माल्यमाधत्त
शिरसीश्वरः ॥ सदामोदनिधेस्तस्य सन्ताने यदुसंज्ञिते । अभूदाश्चर्यमाधुर्यं
वसुधायास्तपःफलम् ॥ संगमो नाम राजाऽभूत्सारभूते तदन्वये । रेजे यस्य
यशस्सिन्धोस्सरणीव सुरापगा । सर्वरत्ननिधेस्तस्य सम्राडासीत्तनूभुवाम् ॥ मध्ये
बुक्कमहीपालो मणीनामिव कौस्तुभः । तस्य गौराम्बिकाजानेस्तनयोऽभूद्गुणोन्नतः ||
हारगौरयश:पूरहारी हरिहरेश्वरः । यत्षोडशमहादानयशसां दिग्विहारिणाम् ||
भूयसामभवन्नालं भुवनानि चतुर्दश । प्रतापदेवरायोऽस्य पुत्रोऽभूद्भुवि विश्रुतः ॥
प्रमोद इव मूर्तोऽयं प्रजानां स्वैर्गुणैरभूत् । प्रत्यर्थिसमिधो हुत्वा प्रतापाग्नौ रणाङ्गणे ||
विहितो येन वीरेण विजयश्रीकरग्रहः । तस्य हेमाम्बिकाजानेस्तनयो विनयोन्नतः ॥
विद्याविधिविशेषज्ञो वीरो विजयभूपतिः । असौ विजयभूपालः पित्रा दत्तं
स्वतेजसा ॥ समस्तं द्राविडं देशमासि ( वि ?) न्ध्या: पर्यपालयत् ॥ ".
