(Vide 1380 inscription). In Nellore district there is still a
renowned tank called 'Kampa Samudram'. It has to be investi-
gated whether this Kamparaya is Veera Kamparaja or Kampara

Historians say that the invasion of Kancheepura did not take
place between 1352 and 1362 and that the reasons therefor were
not known. But, according to this book, it was clear that it took
place soon after. Only the invasion against the Muslim King
was stopped for some time after the above invasion. That interval
was utilised for consolidating the conquered area and for winning
the confidence of the people. Even in his commands, Bukkaraya
stated "प्रशाधि काञ्चीमनुवर्तितप्रजः”, "तुरुष्कभङ्गस्तव नैव दुष्करः" ॥
He further said "जनयितुस्संप्राप्तवान् शासनम्". Thus, this book
does not accept the theory that the invasion that started in 1352
haulted in 1362. It is possible that the invasion of Kanchipuram
continued in 1352. The construction of Vijayanagar started in
1336 reached completion in 1343. By then Kamparaja was
born. He was married when he was reaching adolecence. Two
or three years after the marriage, invasion commenced. Kampa-
raya was then less than 20 years old. This fact is disclosed
by a scrutiny of this book. By 1366 the completion of the
invasion against the Muslims and the consolidation and pro-
tection of the conquered area was achieved. Bukkaraja must
have been by then, either dead or resigned kingship. Historians
decided on the basis of inscriptions that Bukkaraya died in
the Nala in 1377 A. D. If that were a fact, caronation
must have taken place in 1378 itself. In 1366 Kamparaja
ascended the throne of Vijayanagar. History describes
