I have closely gone through the Mathura Vijaya and its
commentary by Sri Potukuchi Subrahmanya Sastri. It is some-
thing to unearth and publish an old Sanskrit text but it is a very
difficult task to write a complete and informative Sanskrit Com-
mentary to it at the same time Sri Sastri is happily successful in
both. His commentary is not mere 'Tika'. His versatality is
reflected when he gives references not only in medicine, astrology
and astronomy but also such rare sciences like Ratna Sastra, Asva
Sastra etc. His contextual discussions in Vyakarana and Alankara
are refreshing and enlightening. I am sure that Mathura Vijaya
and its commentary by Sri Sastri will be deservedly popular in the
hands of students and scholars as well.
