I have great pleasure in recording my appreciation about the
Sanskrit commentary on the great poetry (Mahakavya) 'Madhura
Vijayam' by great poetess, 'Gangadevi' of 13th century A. D.

Gangadevi has written this Mahakavya in the Sanskrit verse
describing the successful invasions of her husband, Veera Kampa-
raya of Vijayanagar dynasty. This book is, therefore, called as
"Veera Kamparaya Charitam" also. No scholar, so far, has
endeavoured to write a commentary on this book. Now, Sri
P. Subrahmanya Sastry, a lecturer in Sanskrit College, Tenali
has written and published a very good commentary in Sanskrit on
the book which I have got an opportunity to go through in detail.
The same scholar has already published Telugu commentary on
this book which was appreciated and very well received by Telugu
scholars. I have no doubt that this Sanskrit commentary also will,
as I understand from the book, be receiving the same appreciation
of the Sanskrit scholars throughout the world.

I congratulate Mr. Shastry for having given the opportunity
of knowing the real sense of the original work to the Sanskrit world.
