THE MAHABHARATA

Krishna told Arjuna then : "Cut off this

enemy's head with an arrow." Accord-

ingly, giving respect to those words of the

Lord, Arjuna cut off the head of Karna.

The great noise of both the Pancha-

janya and the Devadatta, (the conches of

Krishna and Arjuna), filled the earth, the

sky and the quarters.

When Karna, son of the sun-god had

been killed, the fear-stricken Kauravas

turned to all quarters and fled in their

thousands.
