means an Upāśraya wherein a monk sits. In the present
context, however, it appears to have been used as a syno-

the woolen broom carried by Jaina monks
for removing dust'. The Abhidhanarajendra gives two
words णिसज्जा and णिसिज्जा ( < Skt निषद्या ) in all the three
connotations. However, the meaning of a given by us
