Some Vedic injunctions prescribe the deity worship
(upāsana). This can be effected even by the superim-
posed godhood and the injunction of worship can be
valid. But this is not correct. Inspite of the worship-
oriented injunction, the suggested meaning can be valid,
in accordance with the Devatādhikaraṇanyāya.
The Syenādhikarṇanyāya also conveys the same idea.

690. श्वपुच्छन्यायः
 
One may try to straighten the tail of a dog but he is
never successful. The maxim suggests that the natural
shape of a thing can never be changed.
 
691. श्वशुष्कास्थिन्यायः
 
A dog goes on chewing a dry bone. It does not stop
doing so, even if the blood starts flowing from the
