The word racanā (√rac anat ā) literally means composition, prepara-
tion, making up, arrangement etc. The alaṃkāra Racană: Style:
 
Thā is the employ-
ment of appropriate word racanã (frac anat à) literally means composition, prepara-
tion, makand meaning up, arrangement etc. The alamkāra Racana is the employ-
ment of appropriateas word and meaning as well as combination of

perfect sound and sense. Like Gati this uncommon figure also

belongs to the stylistic pattern of poetry and recognised by Bhoja

only. Bhoja has given sixfold divisions of it:
 

(i) sśabda:-racanăā: combination of words,
 

(ii)
 
artha-racană artha-racanā: combination of sound and sense,
 

(iii) paryaya-racanăāya-racanā: combination of sequence,
 

(iv) pada-racanaā: combination of phrases,
 

(v) krama-racanãā: style in pattern and
 

(vi) sśabda-artha-racanăā: matching of perfect sound and sense.

 
From Bhoja's idea we can say that any successful poem can be
 

a specimen of Racană.
