Jiībaānanda Vidyāsāgara (20 ed. Calc. 1891, p. 13) as follows:

प्तता Cp. Sskt. वायुग्रस्त, वायुनिघ्न, वातुल Guj. मगजमां पवन

भरावी 'being filled with wind in one's brain' = to be led away

by a whim'; पवन उपर चढवुं 'to ride on the wind' i='to be

whimsical'; वायरे चढवुं 'to ride on the wind'= 'to indulge with

one's own whims'; वायरीरो वावो 'to blow' (of the wind); 'to have

a whim or freak'. According to a popular notion prevailing

throughout Germany, madness is produced by wind in the brain.

Hindu medicine ascribes a certain species of insanity to wind

prevailing in the body; see Jolly, Med. § 94. 1॥ - आलमालम्
