The wicked Kamsa who was (thus)

entreated, threatened Devaki, and snatch-

ed the child from her hand. Kamsa whose

affection had been uprooted by self-

That chiild, the Goddess Maya, leapt

from Kamsa's hand and immediately

reached the sky. Extolled by the Siddhas,

Charanas and Gandharvas, she said this

(to Kamsa): "Fool, what is the use of

killing me? He who would put an end to

you, your old foe, has been born some-

where. Do not torment in vain these poor

persons (Devaki and Vasudeva)."
