Besides the differences noticed above,
arrival of the messenger with a message declaring war,
the account of the birth of Hamsavahana as the first
child of Vasumati and its removal by a
swan, the
meeting between Vasumati and Vindhyasena in the forest,
the account of the birth of Simhadamana to Vindhyasenă
etc in the Avantisundarī, but all these are absent in
Dasakumaracarita Conversely, the dream of Vasumati
before her conception, the simanta ceremony of Vasu-
mati, the blessing given by Vámadeva relating to the
birth of Rajavahana and its confirmation by an aerial
voice, are episodes which we find in Dasakamāracarita
but not in the Avantisundarī, where, however, we
find Siva appearing before the king when he was
fainting and telling him that he would get two sons,
the incarnations of Pradyumna and Samba and that the
second son should be sent on a conquest of the world in his
sixteenth year. We also find in the latter work the mention
of a dream by Vasumati before her second conception
in which it appeared to her that she was swallowing
the whole earth. The first Magadha - Malava battle which
is indicated by a single word 'उत्खातप्रतिरोपित ' in the
 
Avantisundarī is described in 14 lines in the Das akumara-
carita. We also find a variation in the order of the
acquisition of the children. While in the Avantisundari,
the order is Apaharavarman, Upaharavarman, Purpod-
bhava, Devaraksita and Arthapala, in the Dasakumāracarita
it is Upahāravarman, Apahāravarman, Puspodbhava,
Arthapala and Somadatta.
