Satyesarman of Fatalīputra
was living there, went to see
him. On my return I saw
a wcman attempting to
commit suicide. On asking
her the cause of her action
she narrated as follows:

laid a child before the king
and told him as follows:-
"In the course of my
pilgrimage, I came to the
banks of Kaveri. I saw there
a wailing woman with a
child in her lap. On my
asking her the cause of her
wailing and the circum-
stances that brought her
to the forest, she replied
as follows:-
'Satyavarman, the young.
er scn of Sitavarman the
minister of Rajahamsa,
came here on a pilgrimage
